The iPad mini and iPad 10th gen also offers better connectivity options including Bluetooth 5.0 (5.2 on the 10th gen iPad), WiFi 6, and 5G. The 9th gen iPad only offers Bluetooth 4.2, the older Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and 4G. The last thing to mention is that the iPad mini works with the Apple Pencil 2, both the iPads are still only compatible with the Apple Pencil 1.

Both iPads have a 12MP wide-angle camera on the rear with f/1.8 aperture. The mini has a quad-LED True Tone flash and both iPads have Smart HDR 3 processing. For video, both iPads can do 4K at up to 60fps and slo-mo at 120fps or 240fps.
The FaceTime camera on the front is better in the iPad mini, where it’s a 12MP Ultra Wide with f/2.4, time-lapse video with stabilisation and lens correction. The selfie shooter in the iPad Air is 7MP with f/2.2. Both cameras can record at up to 60fps 1080p Full HD, but only the iPad mini includes Apple’s Centre Stage feature, which automatically adjusts the camera to follow your movement in video calls.

Yes, the iPad Air (2022) and iPad Mini (2021) run iPadOS 15. This is the latest version of the iPad operating system, providing such useful new features as refined multitasking, floating windows, and a neat Quick Notes function. It’s not a massive breakthrough compared to iPadOS 14, but it does bring in some tangible refinements, ensuring that iPadOS remains the best tablet operating system around.
It’s highly likely that the Air and the Mini will receive pretty much the same number of updates and for just as long as each other. Given that iPadOS 15 is compatible with the iPad Air 2 (released back in 2014), they’re both likely to avoid obsolescence for quite some time.

А вот с 16 ГБ оперативной памяти все сложнее. С одной стороны, обычному пользователю вряд ли понадобится 16 ГБ оперативной памяти в планшете. Другое дело, что для моушн-дизайна, 3D моделирования и прочих задач 16 ГБ могут оказаться весьма кстати. Приложения сгружаться не будут практически никогда, а значит работать станет удобнее. Но без специального софта разницы вы не заметите, уверяю.
Тоже касается и портов Thunderbolt. Да, многие подключают к iPad внешние мониторы и работают там, но iPad Air 5 тоже не плох. Скорость увеличили с 5 Гбит/с до 10 Гбит/с. Новый монитор Studio Display подключается без проблем, да и с другими внешними экранами проблем возникнуть не должно.

Экран в iPad Pro уж очень хорош. Подумайте, прежде чем отказываться от него.
Экран в iPad Air 5 обновлять не стали. Это все тот же 10,9″ Liquid Retina c TrueTone и охватом P3. И, на мой взгляд, дисплей — это первое кардинальное отличие, которое заметит практически каждый.
Рамки у iPad Air больше, и это бросается в глаза сразу же. Я пользовался iPad Air 4 около года, и когда взял в руки прошку, был очень удивлен. Вы отлично меня поймете, если сравните iPhone XR или iPhone 11 с iPhone 11 Pro или старшими моделями. На опыте использования это не скажется, но, взяв когда-нибудь в руки iPad Pro, разница будет существенна.
Плюс, не забывайте, что у прошки есть технология ProMotion (частота обновления экрана 120 Гц). Для просмотра фильмов оно вам совсем не понадобится, но когда возьмете в руки Apple Pencil, сразу заметите разницу. В iPad Pro ты действительно рисуешь как на настоящей бумаге, задержки нет от слова совсем. В iPad Air она тоже не бросается в глаза как на китайских Mi Pad за 20к, но при переходе с Air на Pro разница будет ощущаться.
Что лучше: Face ID или Touch ID
Не так давно мой коллега приобрел себе iPad Air 2020 и пожаловался на дико неудобный Touch ID. Дескать, все время промахиваешься, палец не считывается, а когда руки мокрые — вообще беда. Я пользуюсь Air уже около двух лет и таких проблем не испытывал. Да, Touch ID кажется уже рудиментом, но привыкаешь быстро.
Единственное, что неудобно, так это оплачивать покупки или авторизоваться в приложениях. После iPhone, который схватывает лицо налету, я смотрю на iPad Air по несколько секунд и недоумеваю, почему не проходит оплата. Учитывайте это при выборе.
Камера iPad Air 5
Фронтальные камеры у планшетов практически идентичны. В обоих случаях это будет 12 МП сверхширокоугольный объектив с поддержкой функции «В центре внимания». Но не стоит забывать, что камера iPad Pro кроме всего прочего поддерживает портретный режим и Animoji. Air таким похвастать не может.
Камера в iPad пригодится не каждому, так что можно не переживать.
С основной камерой еще больше отличий. В iPad Pro установлено две камеры: ширик 12 МП, сверхширик 10 МП, сканер LiDAR и вспышка TrueTone. Если берете iPad в качестве рабочей машины, я бы к камере точно присмотрелся. LiDAR, конечно, не нашел большого применения, но в своей нише однозначно пригодится.
Из других отличий важно сказать про динамики. В iPad Pro 4 динамика, а в iPad Air — 2
Будет ли это критично, решать только вам. Для просмотра фильмов вам и двух хватит, но для задач посерьезнее Pro будет предпочтительнее.
Сколько стоит iPad Air 4 и iPad Pro 2021
Не так давно Apple полностью прекратила продажи в своем онлайн-магазине в России. По этой же причине iPad Air 5 на официальном сайте вы не найдете. Его не только нельзя купить. Даже характеристики сравнить не выйдет, приходится пользоваться оригинальной версией сайта. Плюс, из-за выросшего курса доллара цена на технику Apple выросла почти в два раза. How well a tablet performs is particularly important for power users and multitaskers. You wouldn’t want your device to lag when you’re working on several tasks at once. The good news is that both of these iPads are powered by mighty processors. The iPad Air 5 goes for the Mac’s M1 chip, while the iPad Mini 6 utilizes the iPhone 13’s A15 Bionic chip. Obviously, the former outperforms the latter — that’s not to mention that the Air has double the RAM included in the Mini model.
Both of these iPads run iPadOS 15, which can be limiting — since it’s just an over-glamorized iOS. So despite the iPad Air packing the M1 SoC, it still doesn’t fully take advantage of its power due to software boundaries. Ultimately, both of these iPads are fluid, but the Air wins this round by far.

Для многих стало приятной неожиданностью наличие новых функций. Одной из них является Slow Motion. Она предназначена для замедления видеосъёмки. Благодаря такой функции можно снимать интересные видео, на которых с помощью замедления удобно делать акценты. Кроме этого, камера обладает другими интересными и полезными возможностями.
Во время сравнения фотографий, сделанных на двух планшетах, можно заметить, что iPad Air 2 позволяет добиться лучшего качества фотоснимков. У изображений улучшена цветопередача. При этом все цвета смотрятся естественнее. На снимках уменьшен уровень шумов и улучшена детализация объектов. Впрочем, такие улучшения имеют значение только для взыскательных пользователей. Работа камеры девайса первого поколения вполне удовлетворительна для устройства такого уровня.
Изменения не затронули фронтальную камеру — её разрешение всё также составляет 1,2 мегапикселя. При этом она не оснащена автофокусом.
