Качель громкости расположена высоко: при хвате одной рукой (правой) приходится тянуться. Возможно, задумка тут в удобном доступе указательным пальцем при хвате двумя руками.
Стерео звучит отлично.
Виброотдача приятно откликается и не жужжит.
Ультразвуковой датчик отпечатка удобно расположен и работает без нареканий.
В нижней грани расположен стилус S-Pen

В розничной продаже представлено четыре цветовых решения корпуса: «Бургунди», «Зелёный», «Белый Фантом» и «Черный Фантом». Если же заказывать на официальном сайте Samsung, к перечисленным добавляются «Графит», «Голубой» и «Красный».

Одна из главных фишек устройства — огромный 6,8” Dynamic AMOLED 2X-дисплей с разрешением 3088 на 1440 точек. Camera

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has the best and the most versatile camera setup in the lineup. It features a quad-camera setup consisting of a 108MP main camera and two 10MP telephoto lenses with 3x and 10x optical zoom. The regular and Plus models only feature a 50MP primary camera and a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens remains the common point between the three phones.

If you want the best camera experience, the S22 Ultra is what you should go for. That’s not to say the other two models are bad — the 50MP sensor will serve you just fine — but what you’ll primarily miss on the non-Ultra models is the 10x optical zoom capability. All three phones sport the same camera features like 8K video recording, an improved Portrait mode, Pro mode for additional control over various camera aspects, and more. The S22 and S22+ feature 10MP selfie shooters. A 40MP camera peeks out from the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 6.8-inch, hole punch display; Pixel-binning and built-in autofocus make it a great choice for selfies and video calls.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs. Galaxy S22 Plus vs. Galaxy S22: Price and availability

All three Galaxy S22 models are available to buy right now, with prices starting from $799 for the standard phone, $999 for the Plus model, and $1,199 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra in its 8GB/128GB configuration. Check out the best Samsung Galaxy S22 deals for ways to save on all three models.

The standard and Plus come in black, white, green, and Pink Gold colors, with Graphite, Cream, Sky Blue and Violet available as online-only options.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra also comes in black, white, green, but also has a burgundy option. Online you can get the larger phone in Graphite, Sky Blue and red.

The Galaxy S22 Plus starts at $999 for the 8GB/128GB version, while the Galaxy S22 kicks off at $799 for the 8GB/128GB variant. Both phones come in black, white, green, and pink gold colorways.

Cameras

Neither phone is short of camera options

Samsung

Modern flagship smartphones come with a barrage of cameras and the S22 range is no exception.

The S22 Ultra has the following cameras:

12MP ultra-wide camera
108MP wide camera
2 x 10MP telephoto cameras (one with 3x optical zoom, one with 10x zoom)
40MP front or ‘selfie’ camera

The standard S22, meanwhile, sports the following cameras:

12MP ultra-wide camera
50MP wide camera
10MP telephoto camera (the one with the 3x zoom)
10MP front or ‘selfie’ camera

As you can see, the Ultra packs the cameras with the greater resolutions, as well as that extra telephoto lens with the 10x zoom. If you’re a keen smartphone photographer, the Ultra would seem to be the model to go for.

На телефонах Samsung есть 3 варианта работы:

Нет энергосбережения: При полной мощности заряд батареи вообще не экономится.
Средний (умеренный) режим энергосбережения. Увеличивает срок службы батареи до 60 часов. Вы можете уменьшить яркость, ограничить скорость ЦП (центрального процессора) и отключить фоновое использование сети (т е фоновые программы не будут получать уведомления или обновления). В моем случае это может составить еще 10 часов работы.
Максимальный уровень энергосбережения. Это позволяет значительно увеличить время автономной работы, до 181 часа. При этом скорость процессора ограничена до максимума, яркость экрана минимальна, Wi-Fi и Bluetooth отключены, а программы не используют мобильные данные и не получают уведомлений. Анимация и фон отключены.
В моем случае увеличение времени автономной работы на Samsung A5 составило 131 час 30 минут.

Постоянно спящие приложения

В моем случае это игры. Они и так «съедают» большую часть нагрузки, поэтому на них нужно максимально экономить.

Быстрая зарядка позволяет быстро зарядить аккумулятор через кабель. При использовании этой функции телефон может нагреваться; смотреть это. Если эта функция отключена, смартфон будет заряжаться в обычном режиме.

This year’s flagship devices from Samsung are all brilliantly refined with solid specifications and features across the board, so there isn’t a bad choice to make. But if you’re struggling to choose between the three and budget isn’t a concern, you need to consider if you need the larger display, extra zoom lens and S Pen functionality.

There’s no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be in the running for phone of the year. With a huge battery, stunning display, note features and top tier camera, it justifies its “ultra” moniker in every way. If taking pictures and videos is a priority for you, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the obvious choice. Of the bunch, the Galaxy S22+ seems to be the less sensible choice, while if you’re on a budget you can’t go wrong with the Galaxy S22.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs S22 Ultra: price

The S22 Ultra retails for £1149 / $1199 / AU$1849 (128GB), £1249 / AU$1999 (256GB), £1329 / AU$2149 (512GB) or AU$2449 (1TB), putting it squarely in the flagship price bracket. The all-new S23 Ultra will run you £1249 / $1199 / AU$1949 (256GB), £1399 / $1379 / AU$2249 (512GB), £1599 / $1619 / AU$2649 (1TB).

There’s no beating around the bush, the S23 Ultra is even more expensive than its predecessor unless you live in the USA. The bump may not be huge, but nonetheless, Samsung’s most expensive phone is set to become even more expensive, depending on where you live.

Samsung is keeping the S22 Ultra on sale alongside its successor, however, it hasn’t lowered the older phone’s price as of yet in its official store. But, if you look at third-party retailers, the likelihood is that you’ll be able to snag an S22 Ultra for cheaper on account of it being a year into its life cycle now.

When you add in the fact that the S23 Ultra isn’t shipping with a 128GB model like the S22 Ultra, you’ll definitely be spending more for the pleasure, so if money is your primary concern, the S22 Ultra is going to be your top pick.

However, the S23 Ultra is bringing upgrades to the table over the S22 Ultra that may be worth the cash…

Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Galaxy S22 Ultra: Price

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra starts at $1,199, which is the same high starting price that the Galaxy S22 Ultra featured when it debuted in 2022. Fortunately, with the S23 Ultra, you get double the starting storage, which is now 256GB vs 128GB for the previous model. The starting RAM remains 8GB.

If you want 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, you’ll pay $1,379, and the 1TB model with the same amount of RAM will cost you $1,619. The Galaxy S22 Ultra with 256GB of storage cost $1,299 last year, and the 512GB model cost $1,399, though if you can still find the older model on sale, its price has likely dropped since the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s arrival.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs. Galaxy S22 Plus vs. Galaxy S22: Design

For starters, the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 look alike, even though they’re different sizes. They bear the same contour design Samsung introduced on the Galaxy S21 last year, just refined for a cleaner look this year.

In fact, the only difference between the regular S22 and Plus is the physical size, with the 6.2 x 3 x 0.3-inch Galaxy S22 Plus looming over the 5.7 x 2.8 x 0.3-inch S22. That allows the S22 Plus to house a larger battery, too.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra, meanwhile, looks like a wholly different device than the rest of the S22 family. It has very little resemblance to its littler brothers and instead looks much more akin to the blocky Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The P-shaped camera module on the back doesn’t have the contour design that the Plus and S22 have. Instead, the lenses stick out individually from the back, though barely at that.

The Ultra includes a slot for the S Pen, again exactly like a Galaxy Note. Samsung obviously learned that skipping the Note series in 2021 was a mistake, so the S22 Ultra is recompense for that decision.

While all three phones have proven to be pretty durable thanks to their use of Gorilla Glass Victus Plus to reinforce their glass backs, we’d still recommend a case no matter what Galaxy S22 model you pick. You can find various options depending on which model you buy:

Like the processor, the camera in the S23 Ultra is also getting some key upgrades over the S22 Ultra.

First up, you’re getting a bump up to a 200MP camera vs the 108MP camera on the S22,. The selfie camera is also getting upgraded from 10MP on the S22 to 12MP and can shoot in Super HDR 60FPS. On top of that, you’re getting improved optical image stabilisation; better noise reduction via AI tech; and a new Astrophoto mode for taking pictures of the night sky.

Samsung’s S22 Ultra was already known for its excellent camera, with What Hi-Fi?’s reviewers appreciating the S22 Ultra’s clarity and detail, especially when zooming in, and the S23 Ultra expands upon this even more. If you are an avid smartphone photographer, the S23 Ultra is an excellent choice, as it produces crisp shots and retains granular detail even when you’re utilising the maximum digital zoom.

It’s not surprising to see the camera performance jump on the S23 Ultra, as it’s the star feature of practically all the marketing material for this phone.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ vs. S22 Ultra: Battery Life

With such impressive cameras, you might be snapping selfies and taking photos all the time. Is this going to drain the battery for either phone? Nope. You can count on the S22+ and the S22 Ultra to have a great battery life.

The S22+ has a 4500 mAh battery, while the S22 Ultra boasts a 5000 mAh battery. In real-world , the S22 Ultra lasted over 12 hours with regular usage, while the S22+ lasted about ten and a half hours.

Both phones also have 45W fast charging capabilities, with 45W charging capabilities for both. It’s also worth noting that the S22+ and the S22 Ultra also feature 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, allowing you to charge your other devices on the go.

The reverse wireless charging capabilities still aren’t that advanced. So, don’t count on using either phone as a battery source for other devices.

If you prioritize longer battery life and use your phone throughout the day, Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra may be the better choice. There isn’t much difference between the two if you just use your phone for messaging and basic browsing.

Both versions do improve slightly upon the S22 battery life. So, in that context, it’s worth the upgrade.

Performance: hard to say

It’s far too early to say what the performance will be like from the three phones, especially since we haven’t had our hands on them yet. This will be something we delve into during our full stand-alone reviews, so stay tuned for those. However, it’s clear that the Ultra will be quite the powerhouse when it comes to powering up intensive apps and games.

One thing to note, however, is that Samsung will be offering different processors in its entire S22 series depednign on where you’re based. While the States will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the UK and Europe models will ship with a Samsung-made Exynos 2200 processor. Qualcomm obviously has a better resume here, but we can’t image the difference will be too apparent.

Why You Need a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

If you’re tech-savvy and want the latest and greatest smartphone on the market, then the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra might be the best option.

Not only does it have an improved camera with 108MP and 10x optical zoom, but it also has a larger screen size at 6.8 inches compared to the S22+’s 6.6 inches.

Plus, it comes with more storage options ranging from 128GB to 1TB, allowing you to store all your favorite apps, documents, and photos without running out of space. This is important if you’re planning on harnessing the power of the S22 Ultra camera system.

Remember, with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, you can enjoy a 108MP main lens, 40 MP front camera, and 100x Space Zoom for crystal clear shots from afar. Overall, this phone is the clear winner. The added features aren’t essential for all users.

The slight price increase might be worth it for this phone if you are a:

Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Galaxy S22 Ultra: Design and colors

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra looks practically identical to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but there are some notable differences. For one, the camera array on the back is a bit larger on the newer phone due to its bigger 200MP camera, but not enough to be an eye sore.

One welcome upgrade is that the display on the S23 Ultra has a less severe curve, which makes writing and drawing using the S Pen a more natural and comfy experience as you approach the edges of the phone. Even so, in our Galaxy S23 Ultra testing, we still found it difficult to tap on icons or buttons on the extreme edge of the display where there still is some curve.

While both the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra sport a sturdy armor aluminum frame, the S23 Ultra features new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the display and rear of the phone, which should better protect the new Samsung S23 Ultra from drops and scratches.

Measuring 6.4 x 3.0 x 0.35 inches and weighing 8.2 ounces, Galaxy S23 Ultra is slightly narrower and heavier than the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which measures 6.43 x 3.07 x 0.35 inches and weights 8.94 ounces.

The main Galaxy S23 Ultra color options are Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender. The Galaxy S22 Ultra colors are Phantom Black, Phantom White, Burgundy and Green. Samsung had been offering additional color options if you ordered your phone from the phone maker’s website, but the Graphite, Lime, Light Blue and Red options appear to be gone.

Similar though the phones may be, if you do opt for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, you’re going to want one of the best Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra cases since those are designed to fit the new phone perfectly.

What is new, and what is different?

Except for an updated processor and cameras, little in the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus is new when compared to the previous Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is a total refresh with a new design, and it comes with an S Pen stylus, which basically makes it a Galaxy Note successor.

The new Galaxy S22 phones will also be running on Android 12 out of the box, but the Galaxy S21 phones also support Android 12. They also run on Samsung’s One UI 4.1 interface, where the most important updates include better privacy control to manage permissions and notifying you when an app is using your microphone or camera.

Настоящий фотокомбайн!

Основная камера демонстрирует отличную детализацию в стандартном режиме, но если ситуация того требует, можно сделать кадр в полных 108 Мп, да ещё и с дополнительной опцией оптимизации (примеры ниже). Широкоугольный датчик в свою очередь показывает те же цвета, неплохой HDR и заметно более широкий угол.

Телевики демонстрируют схожие естественные цвета при достаточном освещении, в то время как в сумерках всем камерам кроме основной становится тяжеловато. 10× телевик, например, может зеленить (пример с котом). В благоприятных условиях портретная и телекамера позволяют выхватывать интересные сюжеты, а также получать портреты с правильной геометрией.

Вывод

На данный момент ничего не подтверждено для Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, поэтому улучшений может быть больше, чем предполагают первоначальные слухи.
