Redmi Note 10 5G: Verdict

The Redmi Note 10 5G’s saving grace is a tried and tested, competent main camera and strong design. It still isn’t the best budget camera around – after all, it misses out on an ultra-wide angle of view and manual shooting modes. When it comes to photo quality, however, it’s at least competitive, matching all the other budget 5G phones head-on. Where the phone excels is battery life, day-to-day usability, and quirky extras, like that IR blaster. Its design is also our favorite when set against its main competition.
If the Redmi Note 10 5G is a bit too basic for you, Xiaomi’s Poco F3 5G is a fantastic alternative that’s much more powerful, both in terms of performance and imaging. Alternatively, If you want something with power and are happy sacrificing on 5G, the Poco X3 Pro could be the one for you.

Размеры телефона по нынешним временам можно назвать средними – округленно 160х75х8,3 мм. Вес – 179 г. Вполне комфортные габариты для повседневной эксплуатации смартфона. При стартовой оценке дизайна в глаза сразу бросается отверстие под фронтальную камеру. Оно размещено строго по центру (как у Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro). Боковые рамки и задняя стенка выполнены из пластика (хотя удачно имитируют металл), причем особого скольжения в процессе использования аппарата не наблюдается.
Из-за довольно широких рамок площадь экрана заметно сокращается (дисплей занимает около 84% площади лицевой поверхности). Блок основных камер располагается с левой стороны задней стенки. Он имеет незначительную толщину, поэтому не особо выделяется на фоне корпуса.
Функциональные элементы на гранях стандартны:
- сверху – микрофон шумоподавления, ИК-порт и решетка динамика;
- слева – выдвижной лоток для двух nano-SIM и MicroSD (для каждого элемента отдельный слот);
- справа – традиционно кнопки включения и регулировки громкости;
- снизу – микрофон, динамик, USB-C и 3.5мм разъем под наушники.
Ничего нестандартного нет. Типичный дизайн, не слишком отличающийся от аналогичной характеристики других смартфонов из того же ценового сегмента. В плане эргономики телефон удобен. Но нельзя сказать, что он дарит какие-либо особые ощущения. По этому параметру Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 является добротным середняком. Хотя его цена изначально на это намекает.
Redmi Note 10 5G: Additional specs
Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor paired with either 4GB or 6GB RAM, it won’t come as any surprise that the Redmi Note 10 5G isn’t a powerhouse. Indeed, if you want something that’s going to keep up with your maxed-out 3D gaming, you’d be better off picking up the Poco X3 Pro. That said, for day-to-day use and 2D and simple 3D games, it’s more than up to the job.
Running Android 11 with Xiaomi’s custom interface over the top, the phone’s UI is highly customizable and app support is excellent. There are a few bugs when dark mode is fired up with buttons appearing as invisible in the notifications bar, and occasional adverts within the UI, though at the phone’s price, this is a given in Xiaomi’s lineup.
You can pick up the Redmi Note 10 5G with either 64GB or 128GB storage. We’d recommend the larger capacity for app-hoarders or anyone with a large WhatsApp backup (these can’t be installed on external storage). Thanks to microSD card support though, file hoarders can get away with the 64GB option and a memory card.
Even less of a concern than storage is battery life. While 5G tears through the battery on most phones, with flagship devices like the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra lasting a few hours with its 5G mobile hotspot fired up, the 5000mAh battery in the Redmi Note 10 5G easily makes it through a full day with around 40 percent left in the tank, even with moderate use. Thanks to 18W fast charging, it also powers up relatively quickly for the price, taking about two hours to go from zero to 100 percent.
Dwelling on the 5G speeds for a second, one point to note – we got very fast download speeds on the phone; averaging 150Mbps indoors with a 5G signal. That said, upload speeds were slower than when using a flagship phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Not a deal-breaker, just a point to note.

Запись видео с основной камеры возможна в 4K и Full HD разрешениях. В первом случае Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 обеспечивает 30 FPS, во втором – от 30 до 60 FPS (на усмотрение пользователя телефона). Фронтальная камера способна снимать видео в режимах FHD и HD при показателе в 30 FPS. Другими словами, для профессиональной съемки телефон Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 не подходит. Но для создания любительских фото и видеороликов сгодится.
Батарея
Оба аппарата оснащены аккумулятором на 5 000 мА/ч. При стандартном сценарии использования заряда смартфонам хватит примерно на 2 дня.
Но здесь нужно учесть, что Redmi Note 10 оснащен более энергоэффективным AMOLED-дисплеем. А если на Redmi 10 включить повышенную частоту обновления кадров, то он станет потреблять больше энергии. Поэтому смотреть видео на этом девайсе с активированным режимом 90 Гц можно в течение 10,5 часов, а на продвинутом Redmi Note 10 — около 17,5 часов.
Оба аппарата оснащены быстрой зарядкой. На улучшенном Redmi Note 10 ее мощность составляет 33 Вт. За 30 минут этот телефон заряжается до 65%, до полной зарядки ему требуется 1 час 15 минут. We’ll say one thing for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G: it doesn’t look like a slightly compromised budget phone. We’ve been using it alongside the similarly pitched Realme 8 5G and the Oppo A54 5G, and it’s considerably nicer to hold and behold than either.
Not that the front of the phone is really any different. You’ve got your pared back bezels, an oversized chin, and a centrally positioned punch-hole selfie camera that’s mercifully without a distractingly shiny surround.
However, the back of the phone is quite the classy customer, at least in our model’s sober Graphite Gray color. It’s unmistakably plastic, but there’s a slightly silky matte finish that looks and feels quite nice. While it’s far from immune to fingerprints, it sure beats the glossy grease magnet approach of most cheap phones.
Xiaomi’s camera module also looks a darned sight more premium than its nearest rivals, with a split metal effect and black shiny finish that makes it appear like a much more serious bit of photographic kit than it actually is.

There’s a heft to the phone that backs up this more pro-like finish. With a thickness of 8.9mm and a weight of 190g, it’s certainly no lightweight, and that’s largely a positive thing. Unless you’re looking for something a little more unassuming, that is.
Just like the aforementioned Oppo A54 5G and Realme 8 5G, the Redmi Note 10 5G goes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor rather than the more fashionable in-display method. We really don’t mind such an approach at this end of the market, where in-display methods are generally slow and unreliable.
As it is, this more functional system is hardly the snappiest way to gain entry to your phone. But it’s reliable enough all the same.
More unique is the provision of an IR blaster on the top edge of the phone, which enables you to use it as a remote control. This isn’t unusual for anyone familiar with Xiaomi’s previous work, but it does set the phone apart from the Realme 8 5G and the Oppo A54 5G.

Typically with such cheap phones, the best you can hope for is either a 120Hz refresh rate (like the Poco X3 NFC) or a vibrant OLED panel (like the Realme 8). The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G has neither.
In the first of several compromises made to hit that ‘5G at $200/£200’ brief, Xiaomi has laid on a 6.5-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2400) IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s all rather underwhelming.
This isn’t a terrible display by any means, but it doesn’t get particularly bright (400 nits isn’t great for sunny days), and its colors appear rather washed out, even when looked at head-on. Tilt the phone to any great degree and viewability gets markedly worse.

We’re not particularly bothered by the implementation of a 90Hz refresh rate in and of itself. The top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro Max is stuck at 60Hz, after all, and cheaper 120Hz phones still tend to be hamstrung by performance limitations. But the point remains that this is far from the best display you can get for your money.
Interestingly, you only have to pay the slightly higher price of $279 / £249 to get both OLED and 120Hz in one package. The identity of that phone: the Redmi Note 10 Pro. That phone isn’t 5G-ready, of course, but hopefully you’re starting to calculate how much such a feature matters to you at this juncture.

Впрочем, монитор Redmi 10 имеет свои особые преимущества. На этой модели можно выставить частоту обновления экрана 90 Гц. После этого картинка будет изменяться более плавно. Частота обновления монитора Redmi Note 10 — традиционная для недорогого телефона (60 Гц).

При необходимости значения цветовой температуры можно изменить путем индивидуальной установки нужных показателей. Для этого достаточно перейти в режим ручной настройки и выбрать требуемые опции.
Redmi Note 10 5G: Design and screen
The Redmi Note 10 5G is the best looking of the three budget 5G phones out now, beating out the OPPO A54 5G and Realme 8 5G thanks to its more matte, diffused finish. They’re all basically the same size, but the Redmi is the only one to feature a centered punch-hole selfie camera at the top, as opposed to a top-left positioned selfie camera.
Measuring 8.92mm thin, and weighing 190g, the phone’s bulk is distinctly middle of the road for Androids, but on the larger side if you’re coming from an iPhone. All-plastic, the back of the phone curves into matte sides. At the top of the phone is a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster, and at the base is a USB-C port. All the buttons are to the right – a power button (which doubles up as a fingerprint scanner), and a volume rocker. As for color choices, you can pick the Redmi Note 10 5G up in Aurora Green, Chrome Silver, Graphite Gray, and Nighttime Blue.
Combining a 6.5-inch screen size and a 1080 x 2400 resolution, the phone has an ample 405 pixels in every inch of display, making it nice and sharp. It’s also protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and has a smooth, 90Hz refresh rate. With a typical brightness of around 400 nits, viewing it in sunny environments isn’t always the easiest, and viewing angles could definitely be better – the 5G-free Redmi Note 10 Pro, for example, packs a much better panel. That said, out of the 5G budget phones on the scene, the Note 10 5G still delivers a good enough display and impressive design.
Display

The Redmi Note 10 and Note 10S feature the same 6.43-inch AMOLED DotDisplay with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. The display features a centered hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera, a peak brightness of 1,100nits, and a 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio. It also offers 100% DCI-P3 coverage, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and minimal bezels on all sides. The Indian variant of the Redmi Note 10S features the same display as well.
Redmi Note 10 5G
The Redmi Note 10 5G, on the other hand, features a 6.5-inch DotDisplay with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 90Hz (30Hz/50Hz/60Hz/90Hz), and a 1,500:1 contrast ratio. Unlike the other devices in the lineup, it offers a peak brightness of just 500nits. However, it does include a centered hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Redmi Note 10 Pro & Note 10 Pro Max
The Redmi Note 10 Pro (India/Global) and the Note 10 Pro Max feature the same 6.67-inch AMOLED DotDisplay, which has a centered hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The display offers a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio. It has a peak brightness of 1,200nits, offers 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and it’s even HDR10 certified. On top of that, the display comes with SGS Eye Care Display certification and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Battery & Charging
Battery capacity and fast charging capabilities on the Redmi Note 10 lineup are also quite consistent, with the Note 10 5G being the only outlier. Both the Redmi Note 10 and Redmi Note 10S pack 5,000mAh batteries that support 33W wired fast charging with the included charger. The Redmi Note 10S for India offers the same battery and charging capabilities. The Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Note 10 Pro Max feature 5,020mAh batteries that offer the same 33W fast charging capabilities with the included charger.
The Redmi Note 10 5G, however, features a 5,000mAh battery that only supports 18W wired fast charging. It comes with a 22.5W fast charger in the box. Xiaomi claims that users will be able to charge their Redmi Note 10 devices up to 50% in under 30 minutes with the included 33W fast charger. As you’d expect, this doesn’t apply to the Redmi Note 10 5G.

Достоинства смартфона Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 таковы:
- неплохой AMOLED дисплей;
- хорошее качество фото при дневном освещении;
- наличие защиты IP53;
- отличная автономность.
К недостаткам телефона Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 относятся:
- плохое качество ночной съемки;
- низкая производительность в требовательных играх;
- отсутствие опции бесконтактной оплаты;
На самом деле выделить значимые плюсы и минусы было довольно сложно. По простой причине. Телефон соответствует ожиданиям. Как уже говорилось выше, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 – добротный середняк среди смартфонов в ценовом сегменте 200-280 долларов.
Покупать Xiaomi Redmi Note 10в ближайшее время или нет – дело индивидуальное. Но целесообразно для начала оценить возможности других смартфонов из этой серии. Большинство из них будут дороже базовой вариации, но по функционалу должны ее превосходить. Пожалуй, это тот случай, когда лучше заплатить больше, но получить оптимизированную производительность и расширенные возможности.
