Tecno Camon 12 Pro camera is good when it comes to taking quality photos and videos. It is one of the features that make the phone stand out in the competitive market. It comes with 16 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP back rear camera with LED flash. The front camera is 32 MP with a LED flashlight to cater for selfie needs. It has a high video quality of 1080p@30fps and 720p@30fps.

Но вернемся к дисплеям. Максимальная яркость экранов составляет 350 кд/м². Дома или когда на улице пасмурно этой яркости хватает. Со смартфона получается комфортно потреблять любой контент, приглядываться не нужно. Но вот когда на улице солнечно, начинаются проблемы — яркости недостаточно. Экран не приходится закрывать рукой, но дискомфорт появляется. Все-таки дисплеям бюджетных смартфонов давно пора добавлять больше яркости.

Также похвалю датчик освещенности. Он работает исправно, с необходимой плавностью. Подергиваний при автоматической регулировки яркости после резкой смены освещенности нет. Такой минус присущ многим недорогим смартфонам, но у Camon 12 и Camon 12 Air все в порядке.

Общее же впечатление от дисплеев смартфонов положительное. Картинка радует глаз — изображение насыщенное, цвета передаются правильно, цветовая температура не завалена.

Camera

Honestly, it does feel like the same team that worked on the camera for the Phantom 9 did the same work here – save for the selfie unit.

On the front of the Tecno Camon 12, we have a 16 megapixels snapper capable of HDR pictures and recording, but with no LED flash to support it.

The back is very impressive with the inclusion of a 16 megapixels camera flanked by all of an 8 megapixels unit and a 2 megapixels depth sensor to match.

By now, we already know Tecno has a habit of not bringing in telephoto lenses, so we have to make do with the ultrawide and wide lens shots.

In low light situations, a Quad-LED flash has been fitted with these cameras for a richer and brighter picture.

Design and Display

The TECNO Camon 12 has a plastic unibody and a stylish gradient design. At the back of the phone are the triple rear camera and the “CAMON” emblem boldly seen.

At the front of the smartphone is its 6.52” LCD Display with a 720*1600
resolution. The dot-not at the top houses the 16MP selfie camera and the dual flashlight
which is within the top thin tiny bezels.

The TECNO Camon 12 runs Android 9 Pie based on the
OEM’s custom HiOS UI. It is powered by an Octa-core 2.3GHz MediaTek 6765
processor. It has a 4GB RAM and a 64GB storage capacity which is expandable up

photo-taking capabilities. At the back is its AI-enabled triple camera

fingerprint sensor. A thumb press on the screen from the bottom end unlocks the

supports OTG.

За производительность смартфонов отвечают разные процессоры. В основе более дорогого Camon 12 лежит восьмиядерный чип Helio P22 MT6762. Четыре производительных ядра процессора работают на частоте 2 ГГц, четыре энергоэффективных — 1,5 ГГц. Процессор дополняют 4 ГБ оперативной памяти. Объем встроенной памяти смартфона составляет 64 ГБ.

Более доступный Camon 12 Air уступает «старшему брату» по производительности. Смартфон оснащен четырехъядерным процессором Helio A22 MT6761 с тактовой частотой 2 ГГц. Объем оперативной памяти модели — 3 ГБ. Емкость встроенного хранилища — 32 ГБ.

В синтетических тестированиях смартфоны проявили себя хорошо. Новинки Teсno набрали показатели аналогичные другим устройствам с процессорами Helio A22 и Helio P22. Более того, у Camon 12 получилось выделиться на общем фоне в бенчмарке AnTuTu. Там смартфон получил почти на 10000 очков больше, чем прочие модели на Helio P22. Полагаю, что дело в оптимизации. Сказывается, что Camon 12 — это новинка, которая вышла позже многих смартфонов с таким чипом.

«Из коробки» смартфоны работают под управлением операционной системы Android 9 Pie с оболочкой HiOS. Android далеко не «чистый». Вместе с оболочкой на смартфонах предустановлено несколько приложений «Яндекса», приложения основных мессенджеров социальных сетей, три приложения от самой компании Tecno и, внезапно, игра Asphalt Nitro. Последняя установлена по умолчанию, по всей видимости, для того, чтобы пользователи могли проверить производительность, что называется не отходя от кассы.

Хорошая новость — большинство приложений можно легко удалить стандартным способом. Нельзя избавиться лишь от парочки утилит компании Tecno. Они вшиты в оболочку «намертво».

Отличная же новость в том, что работает оболочка стремительно. Пусть характеристики смартфонов далеки от флагманских, но это не мешает интерфейсу «летать». Все анимации воспроизводятся быстро, но плавно, без резких подергиваний. Приложения запускаются моментально, опять-таки без тормозов. Ждать загрузки приходится только в играх, например, той же упомянутой выше Asphalt Nitro.

В оболочке HiOS реализовано несколько оригинальных функций, которые на самом деле интересно потестировать после первичной настройки смартфона. Например, можно включить отображение скорости подключения к интернету на статусной панели. Весьма полезная опция, точно заинтересующая любителей видеть побольше технической информации на главном экране.

Другой крутой встроенной функцией является возможность записи звонков по умолчанию. Функция работает отлично, запись осуществляется стабильно и с высоким качеством. Опция исключает необходимость искать нормальное приложение с аналогичной функциональностью в Google Play.

Главная программная фишка лично для меня, но, думаю, она понравится всем, это возможность пробуждения дисплея двойным касанием. Прямо как на iPhone X и более новых айфонах. Благодаря ей очень удобно проверять входящие уведомления, время и прочую информацию, размещенную на экране блокировки.

Основной минус оболочки в том, что в ней есть реклама (привет, Xiaomi). Она отображается не только в стандартных приложениях Tecno, но и в списке приложений. Отключить рекламу можно лишь частично в настройках.

Время автономной работы смартфонов приятно порадовало. Camon 12 и Camon 12 Air оснащены аккумуляторами с приличной емкостью 4000 мАч, которые вкупе с дисплеями с не самым высоким разрешением позволили смартфонам работать длительно без подзарядки.

В первые дни тестирования, когда пользовался обоими смартфонами очень активно, их приходилось заряжать только вечером. Если же пользоваться ими в повседневном рабочем режиме, то заряжать их приходилось на второй день. Отличный показатель для столь недорогих моделей.

Минус смартфонов в довольно медленной зарядке, на которую уходит более трех часов. Сказывается наличие у аппаратов устаревшего разъема microUSB.

Looking at other hardware, the 2019 device ships with the Android 9 Pie under the hood.

Operations on the Tecno Camon 12 is handled by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset which was developed using a 12nm process. While that might not bring all the power and efficiency in the game, it does support 4GB RAM.

For storage, the Tecno Camon 12 is only available as a 64GB model, but all that can be changed by expanding the storage with a dedicated microSD card slot.

У обоих смартфонов предусмотрено две системы защиты. Первая — сканер отпечатков пальцев, расположенный на задней поверхности. Сканер находится на удобной высоте. Указательный палец идеально ложится на него, когда берешь смартфон в руку.

Предполагается, что сканеры отпечатков в Camon 12 и Camon 12 Air одинаковые. По крайней мере, разницы в их работе выявить не удалось. Разблокировка смартфонов при помощи сканера происходит моментально, задержка составляет доли секунды. Со стабильностью работы дактилоскопических сенсоров проблем не возникло. Сканеры работают быстро и стабильно.

Вторая система защиты предусматривает сканирование лица. Когда освещенности достаточно, то смартфоны действительно определяют лицо правильно и происходит разблокировка. Сканирование выполняется стремительно, ждать не приходится. Однако ситуация становится хуже, когда освещенности не хватает. Например, сканер часто не распознавал лицо вечером в квартире при самом обычном искусственном освещении. В итоге мне надоело с ним бороться, и я отключил функцию. Она определенно только чтобы «поиграться». Впрочем, кто-то определенно сможет привыкнуть к ней и использовать по необходимости, например, когда заняты руки.

Такого явно не ожидаешь увидеть в комплекте с откровенно бюджетными смартфонами. Тем не менее, качество на уровне.

Стекло прочное и практически несгибаемое. Это не пленка под видом стекла, которыми некоторые производители зачастую комплектуют свои гаджеты. Это именно стекло, которое ощущается крайне надежным.

На практике стекло не подвело. За неделю плотного тестирования смартфонов на предварительно наклеенных защитных стеклах не осталось заметных царапин или потертостей.

Понравился и силиконовый чехол, идущий в комплекте со смартфонами. Он определенно не самый дешевый, что отчетливо понятно на ощупь. Тактильные ощущения от чехла приятные. Мысли о том, чтобы снять чехол из-за какого-либо дискомфорта не возникло.

А вот на комплектных наушниках, похоже, как всегда сэкономили. Они воспроизводят музыку довольно громко и при этом чисто, но звучанию не хватает насыщенности. Из-за этого не считаю, что в штатных наушниках получится послушать музыку с особым наслаждением. При этом, для звонков гарнитура подходит отлично. Собеседника слышно без проблем, в том числе на шумной улице. Встроенный в гарнитуру микрофон передает звук с минимальными помехами и искажениями.

Design and Display

Looking at the Tecno Camon 12, you cannot but see flashes of the Tecno Phantom 9 in there. This makes sense since the Phantom is the all-round top of the line model while the Camon represents the camera flagships.

We get started with a 6.52-inch IPS touchscreen panel on the front which is so bezel-less, we get 81.6% of the screen to the phone’s body. This is slightly smaller than what we have on the Phantom 9, but impressive anyway.

The resolution is however modest with 720 x 1600 pixels.

A tiny notch on the top takes up enough space to allow for a speakerphone grille, the regular sensors and selfie camera – then no more.

Of course, Tecno was not going to do away with the 3.5mm headphone jack, neither were they going to give up the USB 2.0 technology.

With the volume rocker and power button in the right places, there is not much difference to look at there.

Going to the back of the Tecno Camon 12, we find that there is a physical fingerprint sensor in sight. That should have been moved into the screen, but it is not much of a dealbreaker anyways.

What we find most disheartening is that the back panel was still not treated to the glass appeal – making the device feel less premium than should have been. We can forgive that for the addition of triple camera sensors on the back which makes up for the whole thing.

Talking about the rear panel will not be complete if we didn’t mention the various colour options we could have there – from Dawn Blue and Dark Jade to Sky Cyan.

Tecno Camon 12 price in Nigeria starts at around 58,500 Naira. Price in Kenya starts at KSh 14,999 and in Ghana, you can buy it for around GH₵ 799.
