The key highlight of the launch event was the advancement in mobile photography thanks to Xiaomi’s strategic partnership with Leica. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra flaunts a quad-camera system that houses a 1-inch main camera sensor, with a variable aperture inspired by the Leica M series lenses, Xiaomi claims to offer “high imaging performance, reliability, and durability” with the help of a large aperture in a compact form factor.
The 50MP primary camera supports Hyper-OIS and uses the Sony IMX989 sensor, while the 50MP ultra-wide, telephoto, and super-telephoto lenses use the IMX858 sensor. The sensors are capable to cover focal lengths ranging from 12mm (ultra-wide), 23mm (wide angle), 75mm (telephoto), and 120mm (super-telephoto). The primary camera can switch between an f1.9 to f4.0 aperture, while the other three house an f2.0 aperture.
The main camera is capable to shoot at 50MP RAW for higher image resolution at multi-frame 14-bit UltraRAW. Taking inspiration from street photography, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra brings a new “Fast shoot” mode to take “focus-free” snapshots manually in just 0.8s. There is a 32MP selfie shooter too. There’s access the CyberFocus, various Leica fiters, 8K video recording, and much more.
Design and Display
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is a proper flagship-grade smartphone, packing all the high-end hardware. It packs a 6.73-inch WQHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display with 2600 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 1920Hz PWM dimming, and in-display heart rate monitoring. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and offers a soft antibacterial silicone leather back. The smartphone is IP68 water and dust resistant.
Performance and More
The smartphone is powered by the latest 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset complemented by the Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The smartphone packs up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 Storage. To maintain peak performances, the smartphone has an active Loop liquid cooling technology.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is backed by a 5000mAh battery coupled with Xiaomi’s Surge P2 Charging Chip and Xiaomi Surge G1 Battery Management Chip. The smartphone supports 90W wired turbo charging, 50W wireless turbo charging, and reverse wireless charging. It runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
Xiaomi also announced a new video kit accessory for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone. With this kit, you can turn your smartphone into a proper handheld camera module. This kit supports 67mm filters from Leica, offers a physical crown for zooming and shutter, and a lanyard for portability. The Video Kit will be made available starting April 21 in China at RMB 700 (~ Rs 8,349).

Xiaomi 13 release date and price

Xiaomi held a Chinese launch event for the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, as well as its MIUI 14 platform, on December 11 2022. The phones have been available for purchase in China since December 14 2022.
There has been no official announcement about international availability, but in previous years, we’ve seen the global variant launching in March. So we might expect the same in 2023.
Xiaomi has confirmed its attendance of MWC 2023, which runs from February 27 to March 2, so we might expect an announcement, if not a launch, at the event.
While international pricing is yet to be determined, we do know what the phones cost in China, which may help us gauge this year’s pricing.

However, the international pricing was quite different in 2022, so we may expect these devices to fall closely in line with the 12 series international pricing instead.

Talking about the camera sensors, the primary sensor supports Hyper-OIS and comes with the Sony IMX989 sensor. Backing up the main camera, the three remaining camera uses Sony IMX858 sensors. Talking of camera details, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra comes with a 50 MP (wide), 50 MP (periscope telephoto), 50 MP (telephoto), and 50 MP (ultrawide) + TOF 3D (depth) camera sensor.
Xiaomi claims that all the camera sensors on Xiaomi 13 Ultra have the capability of capturing focal lengths ranging from 12mm to 240mm. While the primary camera can switch between an aperture of f/1.9 to f/4.0, the other three camera sensors come with a fixed aperture of f/2.0.
If you are into photography, you’d be happy to know that the main camera of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is capable of shooting 50MP RAW images at a multi-frame 14-bit UltraRAW. Xiaomi Smart Band 8

Помимо классических браслетов Xiaomi показала варианты для превращения аксессуара в кулон (носится на шее) и в беговой датчик (крепится на шнурках кроссовок).
Дисплей теперь отображает картинку с частотой 60 Гц, а операционная система предусматривает запуск простых игр. Автономность браслета составляет 16 дней в обычном режиме, а с постоянно активным дисплеем — 6 дней. Полная зарядка АКБ занимает час.
В Китае Xiaomi Smart Band 8 будет продаваться по цене $36. Версия с NFC стоит 44 доллара.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra
А вот эта новинка гораздо интереснее. Начнём с внешнего вида. Смартфон точно примечательный:

Xiaomi 12S Ultra сам по себе немаленький: 163,17 × 74,92 × 9,06 мм, а весит 225 граммов. Смартфон поставляется в чёрном и зелёном цветах, задник каждой версии покрыт экокожей.
Смартфон получил 6,73-дюймовый дисплей с поддержкой Dolby Vision TrueColor. Матрица — Samsung AMOLED LTPO разрешением 3200 × 1440. Тут динамическая частота обновления, варьирующаяся от 1 до 120 Гц. Пиковая яркость — 1500 нит, типовая — 1000.
Железо

Камеры
Самое интересное в этом смартфоне — камеры, их всего четыре. Три из них на задней панели.
Широкоугольная получила самый большой сенсор в мобильной индустрии — один видиконовский дюйм (3/4 обычного дюйма). Вы можете возразить, мол, у Sony Xperia PRO-I тоже дюймовая матрица, однако смартфон использует лишь её часть, уменьшая полезную площадь до 1/1,33 видиконовских дюйма.
Матрица получила название Sony IMX989 с эффективным разрешением 50,3 Мп. Однако в большинстве случаев снимки будут получаться в разрешении 12,5 Мп. Благодаря этому размер каждого пикселя при объединении четырёх в один увеличивается с реальных 1,6 µm до 3,2 µm.

One of the outstanding features of the Xiaomi 13’s display is its astonishing brightness output of up to 1900 nits. This means that it’ll have no problem competing with bright sunny days, and you’ll be able to see all the details in the most challenging of conditions.
Otherwise, it has an ample FHD+ resolution and a zippy 120Hz refresh rate. We also know that MIUI allows for a lot of customisation with colour rendering, so it’ll be easy to tweak things to your liking.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro increases the resolution to WQHD+ as well as utilising an LTPO panel. If you’re not familiar, LTPO tech essentially allows for dynamically variable refresh rates without the need for an extra controller, so it’ll be more efficient with its battery usage, despite the higher resolution.
The display is also a bit larger on the Pro model, but still offers the same brightness output, which we believe to be the brightest on the market — at the time of writing.

The Xiaomi 13 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It can be paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
We know from testing phones like the iQOO 11 and RedMagic 8 Pro that this is one seriously capable processor, so the Xiaomi 13 should be a bit of a powerhouse for gaming, as well as feeling super-responsive during day-to-day tasks.
We’re happy to see 50W wireless charging included on this model, too. Not only is wireless charging still something of a rarity in 2023, but 50W speeds are even less common.

On the Xiaomi 13 Pro, the base specifications remain unchanged. However, we get a larger battery pack, as well as significantly faster 120W wired charging.

Primary Camera
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will retain the IMX 989 sensor that the previous 12S Ultra and the Xiaomi 13 Pro used for the primary sensor. There are several reliable sources to confirm this. The IMX 989 on the 13 Ultra will be better tuned and well-optimized for better photos.
They will retain the collaboration with Leica. Leica helps Xiaomi with image processing, and there are two modes: Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant. The Authentic mode attempts to shoot colors as they are but adds high contrast.
The dynamic mode adds contrast, but photos look rich, vibrant, and boosted. There is an element of personal preference for how your images look; hence, Xiaomi has given you a choice. The Surge C2 imaging chip will assist too.
Sony’s IMX 989 was developed in collaboration with Xiaomi back in 2022 for the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. It cost nearly 15 Million dollars to develop. While the 13 Pro crops in for an effective 1/1.1″ size, the 13 Ultra will use the entire 1″ sensor. The IMX 989 is a 50.3MP 23mm equivalent sensor with amazing Bokeh, great details, and stellar low-light performance.
There’s something special about the IMX 989 on the 13 Ultra, and that’s variable Aperture. Variable Aperture has not been used on a mainstream phone since the 2019 Galaxy S10+. It adjusts the amount of light your phone can let instead of having a fixed aperture.
Opening the phone to the least possible aperture value will let in the possible light, improving shutter speeds. The phone also has a glass lens to reduce flaring problems. Xiaomi 13 Ultra can also shoot in 4K with Dolby Vision HDR.
Zoom cameras
The 13 Ultra is expected to have the IMX 858 for both 3X zoom and 5X zoom. It’s a decent combination, mainly because it brings back intermediate zoom, which has been missing since the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra.
Xiaomi’s 12S Ultra’s 1/2″ 5X zoom camera was excellent, but the IMX 858 is mostly 1/1.7″ in size. That’s way larger than 1/2″. Other people predict that the IMX 858 might not be a new sensor.
It’s rumored to be a rebadged but improved IMX 758 sensor, which is 1/2.4″ in size. This is not particularly good for an ultra-wide, but very good for Zoom.
Ultra-wide and Front Cameras
The Ultra-wide angle camera will be larger in sensor size than Samsung and Apple’s offerings. But up against Oppo’s IMX 890 (1/1.56″), it does not look all that great. If the IMX 858 is 1/1.7″, then it beats Vivo’s custom 1/2″ ultra-wide angle camera.
We don’t have credible information about the front camera of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra yet. It’ll mostly stick to the outdated 1080P/ 30 FPS recording and use USBC Type 2.0. Both flaws could still be addressed, but there aren’t any strong rumors.
CAMERA GRIP: CASE CLOSED
Finally, the thing that ties everything together with a perfectly packaged ribbon on top is the case. Not the case in the box, though this is a really nice hard plastic shell.
I’m instead talking about the camera grip case that adds a tonne of utility to Xiaomi’s super camera-phone. At its core, it’s just a simple case with a similar finish to the phone itself – vegan leather, so it looks sleek and stylised to the nines.

Then there’s the slide-on camera grip. This is an ergonomic dream! It gives you a zoom toggle and a two-stage shutter release at your fingertips, and enough girth to be able to hold the phone comfortably with one hand while recording or snapping.
One-handed photo video capture, complete with zooming? Yep – what was once beyond the realms of smartphone photography is now within reach. And I love it.
The camera case highlights don’t stop there – you can detach the grip part to use it as a wireless shutter release and zoom control – it connects via Bluetooth.
And finally, there’s a lens cap to protect your lenses, which can be swapped out for a 67mm filter ring. If you are into photography, as you’ll know, this means you can easily screw on an ND filter and luxuriate over super-long shutter speeds for some ethereal, floaty streams, or ghost-like bustling city shots.
